The Good Guys have been selling Ruud equipment since December 2025. We brought the line on to pair with our existing offering due to their great price point and good warranties. We believe in choices and options for everyone, and offering 2-3 brands has always been our goal.
Warranty
The Econet thermostat comes with a 5 year part warranty. If you install it as part of a Ruud/Rheem system, the thermostat will have the same warranty as the equipment. For example, if you have a 10 Year Parts & Labor warranty on your Ruud/Rheem furnace, the same SHOULD apply to your thermostat.
(This can vary with contractors, but the way we install these thermostats, they are always on new systems… so you should not have any thermostats with just a 5 year part warranty.
Maintenance Alerts (shutting them off)
By default, the Econet thermostat will default to on with timers that remind you to take care of your Air Filter, Humidifier Pad, UV Light, and Tune-Up. This can be alarming to homeowners due to the big warning sign that shows on your thermostat screen.
These are just timers are will not affect the operation of your equipment.
Want to turn them off or edit them?
- On the home screen of your thermostat, tap the menu button (three vertical lines) on the bottom left.
- On the menu, tap the Service button (wrenches) should be top row right side.
- There are a few options you can do from this page:
- Current: Shows you current alerts that you can clear and reset.
- History: Shows you prior alerts that occurred.
- Alerts: You can manage what alerts are generated.
- If you want to shut off the alerts, tap on the “Alerts” with the bell icon.
- If you want to shut off alerts, make sure all four service alerts are disabled. This page should also let you customize how often the reminder is if you just want to tweak it.
While we understand the annoyance of these reminders, we believe the heart is in the right place. Many homeowners forget about their Air Filter. If you run your furnace with a plugged filter you add un-needed stress to your blower motor and can shorten the life of that motor.
We recommend changing thicker filters twice a year (3″+) and (1″ filters should be changed every 1-3 months depending on the type. Pleated one inch filters can potentially last more than a month, but see how it works for your system. Every home is unique!
Mobile App Compatibility
The econet app is a great app, but there is a limitation those with older Android phones may run into. It requires Android 13 or newer to operate (also 12L is supported). Some android phones may not have a new enough version of Android to be supported. If you’re using an apple phone, you need an iPhone 8 or newer to have an iOS version that’s compatible with the app.
Helpful Resources
This video above is a walkthrough from Hauser Heating & Air (not related to The Good Guys Heating & Cooling), they walk through the set up of the thermostat with the homeowner. This is a great video to see the different options the thermostat has.
The tech gets one thing wrong about the fan operation. Under mode, if you turn the mode to fan it will never kick in the heating or cooling system. If you are running your furnace and want the fan to always be circulating when it’s not running, you can change that in the menu under the settings tab.
